March 20, 2020 The 2020 Gravity Car World Championship speed race scheduled for Sept. 18 - 20 2020, regretfully, has been cancelled. Hickey Speed is suspending efforts to organize the event due to the rapidly changing and unprecedented circumstances our nation and the world is currently navigating. Hickey Speed's top priority along with the WGSA, is to ensure the health and safety of all gravity land speed racers involved.
Hickey Speed is now looking into hosting a 2021 Gravity Car World Championship speed race. Though a 2021 date has not yet been selected, Hickey Speed along with the WGSA, intends to host the greatest gravity car speed race ever next year. Many factors will be evaluated for the consideration of the 2021 event, such as, road availability and condition, sponsorships, and the number of gravity car commitments for the race to name a few. Rest assured we will be communicating the new date and info to you as soon as they become available.
Hickey Speed and the WGSA you like to thank everyone for their interest in the 2020 event. We look forward to 2021 for a historic gravity car speed race.

Jan. 16 2019 From the Canadian group, the 2019 L'Ultime Descente Speed Challenge has been cancelled. The group is still trying to keep the event alive by hosting it in 2020. The group informed the gravity speed racing community that time had run out to nail down the 2019 event. The biggest question for a 2020 race will be the condition of the road and if it will be worthy of providing a safe racing surface. Time will tell. GO FAST
Dec 22, 2018 With the end of 2018 rapidly approaching, the year ended on a quiet note. Not a single WGSA record attempt was made most likely because of the absence of the L'Ultime Descente Speed Challenge. There has been some rumors that talks are underway for an event in 2019 or possibly 2020. Hopefully it will happen next year as the road continues to deteriorate and several teams have WGSA record attempt builds in progress. The WGSA would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Faster New Year!

Sept 24, 2017 Another historic U'Ltime Descente in the record books
Charles-antoine Lavoie and Jonathan Galarneau, along with countless volunteers, have proven the L'Ultime Descente is the greatest gravity speed race in the world, second to none. This event is now the icon for the gravity speed racing world.
This years race was overall, faster than lasts. 12 countries represented, along with the seasoned speed merchants came some new faces on the hill. The event saw old records fall, som...e records crushed, and new ones in the history books. Sixteen WGSA new records went down in the gravity history books. The race also produced 4 new members who joined the exclusive WGSA Century Club. One which recorded the highest speed ever for a wheeled gravity powered vehicle.
The WGSA would like to congratulate the L'Ultime Descente group and the event sponsor, Casino Charlevoix, on an absolutely world class event. GO FAST

Apr. 11, 2017 The WGSA would like to apologize for an error we have made. As previously recorded Mike McIntyre's Unlimited world record speed was documented in error. Upon investigation, Mac did not have a record run of 164.00 km/h 101.90 mph. The true recording for his WGSA world record was 162.00 km/h 100.662 mph. McIntyre still retains his WGSA world record holder status. Again, we apologize to Mike and the gravity speed racing community for our error. GO FAST

Feb. 17, 2017 With the announcement of the 2017 L'Ultime Descente there has been a renewed excitement over gravity speed racing not seen since the Signal Hill speed events of the 1970's. With the huge success of the 2016 Canadian event, this years speed race promises to be even better with performances eclipsing last years records. One class that's seeing a new interest is gravity speed bike. With five riders already on the list to attend, no doubt last year's ...record will be in jeopardy. It's going to be interesting to see what WGSA speed bike classes will show. Also new to the hill may be a speed trike to set a WGSA world record. Promises be an interesting speed shootout for the G Bikes that weekend
Gravity cars will be in attendance attacking the world records in several WGSA G Car classes. Sounding like at least five cars will show with four being completely new car builds. Watch for Bodrodz Xtreme Gravity Racing and Hickey Speed to run big numbers. With the new streamliners being designed and built, they could quite easily come away with taking the 2017 L'Ultime Descente's top speed honors. Speeds over 105 mph / 169 km/h plus could very easily be in reach of these two teams. This September will tell.
The current WGSA street luge records will be under fire at this years event and more than likely fall to new sled designs and better performances. The word is Big Mac will be back to defend his world record and attempt to raise the speed bar. Street luge should end up a slugfest to see you will be the events King of Speed!
Kyle Wester's high altitude longboard unlimited record is going to be an "uphill" battle to reset but not impossible. A tailwind and a good low pressure day to get the corrected altitude as high as possible, anything is possible. Carlos Augusto Paixao's longboard classic WGSA world record, on the other hand, will more than likely be upped. Possibly by Carlos himself.
Sandro Bovo's inline record will be another record that's going to be tough to reset. Gabe Holm, last years event inline speed winner, will be definitely have his sights set on Bovo's WGSA record. Hopefully, Bovo will be back. The big GO FAST weekend in September will tell.

Jan. 20, 2017 L'ULTIME DESCENTE RUMORS. Hickey Speed, sounds like Roger Hickey will possibly run two classes. Obviously he will be wheeling a new gravity car of his design in Canada this year, and more than likely will pilot a speed luge going after McIntye's record. The Bodrodz group will campaign three brand new cars running under the WGSA rules. Bodrodz Ed Bryant, has his eye on the gravity bike record with a new G bike build. Also rumbles from across the pond, the UK might possibly enter a gravity sidecar for a record attempt along with a gravity car entry. No doubt this will be another epic world class event! GO FAST
Jan. 16, 2017 BIG NEWS! The 2017 L'Ultime Descente will take place Sept 15-17, 2017 at Les Eboulement, Canada. Registration to begin in March. More info and website coming soon.
Dec. 30, 2016 The WGSA has reviewed all the feedback and input from the longboard speed racing group on possibly implementing weight classes. The WGSA longboard classes will remain the same and not executing weight classes for 2017. We would like to thank everyone for their input.
Dec. 21, 2016 Reviewing the feedback from the longboard and street luge speed racing community, the WGSA will not be dividing the street luge into weight class catagories. Possible weight classes for longboard. New for 2017 two of the street luge catagories will be renamed "Street Luge Limited and Street Luge Unlimited". Because of safety concerns, "No parachutes permitted" rule has been added to street luge general rules.
Dec. 15, 2016 The WGSA is considering adding weight classes to both Longboard and Street Luge. This is only a consideration and is accumilating information from the gravity speed racing community before implementing any changes, if any.
Dec. 14, 2016 Gravity Car News Rumored, Todd McMillin of southern California is prepping two GF1 cars for a record attempt in 2017. Bodrodz' Fast Donnie Schoettler is going to take a shot at upping his current WGSA record and becoming the first GCar in the 100 Club under WGSA rules with his modded GF1 car and possibly with a new car build. Bodrodz Doug Anderson is building two new cars. One will run in the Top Gravity Streamliner class for the record with Scott Holsenback piloting. Testing to begin soon. Another will be campaigned in the 200 Limited CCW class for a 2017 world record attempt. Testing to begin in spring of 2017.
Roger Hickey, of street luge and GF1 gravity car fame, is said to be nearing completion of a record attempt gravity car. Little known if it's a heavily modded GF1 car of his own or a completely new build. Rest asured, it will be a world record contender
