WGSA Street Luge Rules & Regulations
general street luge rules all classes
1. Rider must wear a full face helmet.
2. Rider must wear a full protective suit of leather and/or Kevlar (two piece permitted, must zip together at waist protective shoes and gloves.
3. Speed suits are allowed over protective gear all classes
4. All riders must ride in the supine position, lying on back with feet forward.
5. All classes lean to steer only.
6. No mechanical brakes
7. All chassis' must be structurally sound. Nothing can protrude between riders legs.
8. *Starting procedures" Seated paddle starts only. Unlimited paddle allowed. No standup kick
starting allowed

1. WEIGHT: The complete luge must not exceed twenty-five kilograms (25kg / 55.1 lbs).
2. LENGTH: The minimum length shall be no less than one hundred twenty centimeters (120cm / 47.24”) Maximum length shall not exceed 2.43m / 8'. 3. WIDTH: The luge must not exceed sixty-one centimeters (61cm / 24”) in width. 4. BODYWORK AND FAIRINGS: Any bodywork, nose cones in front of the competitor’s feet and tail cones behind the riders head and fairinings are NOT allowed. The use of any type tape below deck (top surface of luge) is NOT allowed. 5. TRUCKS: Two truck minimum. The trucks must be lean steer activated. They may be commercially available or custom built. The track width must be no wider than the widest part of the luge to a maximum of sixty-one centimeters (61cm / 24”), as measured from the outside edge of the axles. The axles cannot protrude past the edge of the wheel. 6. BEARINGS: No Restrictions 7. WHEELS: A minimum of four (4) wheels must be in contact with the ground. Maximum diameter 130 mm / 5.11" |

1. WEIGHT: The complete luge must not exceed thirty-four kilograms / seventy five pounds (34kg / 75 lbs).
2. LENGTH: The minimum length shall be no less than one hundred twenty centimeters (120cm / 47.24”) Maximum length shall not exceed 3.66m / 12’ 3. WIDTH: The luge must not exceed sixty-one centimeters (61cm / 24”) in width. 4. BODYWORK AND FAIRINGS: Any bodywork permitted. Must not restrict riders ability to control or stop luge. 5. TRUCKS: Two trucks minimum. The trucks must be lean steer activated. They may be commercially available or custom built. The track width must be no wider than the widest part of the luge to a maximum of sixty-one centimeters (61cm / 24”), as measured from the outside edge of the axles. The axles cannot protrude past the edge of the wheel. 6. BEARINGS: No Restrictions 7. WHEELS: A minimum of four (4) wheels must be in contact with the ground. Maximum diameter no restrictions |
classic luge
1. Deck: The deck must be one piece. It may be any shape that falls within the size limits. Nothing may be added to the deck except for the following: ● Foam padding to the top for headrest
● Non-aerodynamic stiffeners to the bottom ● Skateboard- type grip rails underneath. The use of any type tape below deck (top surface of luge) is NOT allowed. 2. Weight: The complete board must not exceed seven kilograms (7kg / 15.4lbs). 3. Length: A maximum of 125 centimeters (49.21”). 4. Width: A maximum of 305 millimeters ( 12”). 5. Height: The underside of the board must have a minimum height of 70mm (2.75”) 6. Trucks: Two trucks only allowed. The trucks must be lean steer activated. Rolling axles are allowed. They must not exceed 305 millimeters (12”) wide, as measured from the outside edge of the axles. The board must use exactly two (2) trucks. The axles cannot protrude past the edge of the wheel. 7. Bearings: No restrictions 8. Wheels: The board must use exactly four (4) wheels. Wheels can be a maximum diameter of 76 millimeters (2.99"). |
