Damian Andrey Speeds To Become WGSA's Unlimited Luge World Record Holder!
Damian Andrey (SUI) showed up at the 2017 L'Ultime Descente Speed Challenge on a mission. He had his sights set on becoming the WGSA Unlimited Luge world record holder and he did just that. On Saturday, Sept. 16, Andrey went big and the timing display would read 163.88 km/h 101.83 mph, setting the new WGSA Unlimited Luge world record! This speed record would eclipse Mike McIntyre's world record of 162.00 km/h 100.66 mph that was set in 2016 at this event. This speed also earned Damian the Guinness world record for fastest street luge. The WGSA also welcomed Damian into the Century Club as the 4th person in history make it into the exclusive 100 mph group on that run. Andrey, now in the speed zone, would record two more runs following that pass in excess of 100 mph, proving his speed performance was more than just a fluke. This guy is the real luge speed merchant. His mission accomplished! The WGSA congratulates Damian Andrey on his historic world record and his 100 mph milestone. GO FAST
